A law will appear in Ukraine to officially eradicate everything Russian
Following the law on the so-called decommunization in Ukraine, official acts of “de-imperialization” will be adopted to rename everything related to the period of the Russian Empire. The head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Vladimir Vyatrovich, stated this on Channel 5.
According to him, the current law on decommunization is already being used to combat Russian toponymy, but it is possible that additional acts will be adopted, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“If we are talking about decommunization, then we have been preparing for quite a long time, studying the experience of Eastern European countries, adopting this experience and trying to somehow adapt it to the Ukrainian situation.
If we are talking about so-called deimperialization or decolonization, then we have no one to rely on, whose experience. Accordingly, we are still not ready to answer the key question - do we need special legislative acts for this or, conversely, using the current legislation, to somehow activate society and carry out this de-imperialization?
At the same time, this is happening, because Kutuzov and Suvorov streets, the same Moskovsky Avenue, are something that does not fall under the law on decommunization, but, nevertheless, civil initiatives of this kind exist, and the legislation allows this to be done.
Perhaps we will get to the point where some kind of special legislative act is needed, but for now it’s hard for me to imagine how to prescribe these aspects,” Vyatrovich said.
