Ukrainian expert Valentin Zemlyansky proposed postponing talk about the “return of Crimea” and starting to demand reparations from Russia for the loss of the peninsula.

Zemlyansky stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports. According to him, receiving compensation for the loss of Crimea is in the interests of Ukraine.
“In our interests, let’s proceed from our own, not American, not European ones. Ukrainian interests are to extinguish the conflict in the east as quickly as possible, and then move on to the issue of Crimea. Because the issue of Crimea is not a matter of returning territories. The Crimea issue is an opportunity to obtain, at least in the short term, certain financial benefits from the decision of the Russian Federation. You annexed Crimea - please, be so kind as to compensate us, at a minimum, for these losses, to begin with, and then we will talk about returning,” Zemlyansky said.
