Ukraine adopted a new version of spelling
At a meeting on Wednesday, May 22, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a new edition of Ukrainian spelling, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Government portal reports this with reference to the relevant resolution.
The document states that the new edition of spelling is being adopted “in order to ensure constitutional provisions on the state status of the Ukrainian language and unify the application of spelling norms.”
The Ukrainian National Spelling Commission worked on the new edition of Ukrainian spelling, and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine proposed accepting it.
The resolution also recognizes paragraph 1 of the Cabinet of Ministers resolution since 1992 on Ukrainian spelling as no longer in force.
As noted in the explanatory note to the document, the new edition of Ukrainian spelling was developed on the foundation of the Ukrainian spelling tradition, taking into account the latest linguistic phenomena that have become widespread in various spheres of social, scientific and cultural life.
Also at today’s government meeting, Vladimir Groysman confirmed that today he is submitting his previously written resignation letter to the Rada.
