In Ukraine, they began to decommunize remains in cemeteries

The reason for the initiative was the intention to erect a memorial on this site in honor of the fallen ATO participants.
“According to the authors of the Memorial of Glory, such a neighborhood is impossible,” сообщает Sumy edition “Your Chance”. “And therefore the monument to the Fighters for Soviet Power must be dismantled. They proposed transforming the burial site of the victims of the civil war into a green slope with a memorial slab. The city authorities came up with a proposal not only to dismantle the monument to the Fighters, but to move it to the cemetery on Timiryazevka, where there are also graves of those killed in the civil war.”
Communist deputy Vladimir Solobaev spoke out against it, saying that there was no need to disturb the ashes of the fallen, much less decide who died for a just cause and who did not. City Council Secretary Tatyana Goncharenko tried to smooth out the scandalous situation by convincing deputies that the removal of the monument was not connected with decommunization, but only with the fact that the central place in the cemetery should be occupied by a memorial in honor of those killed in the ATO.
As a result, only 27 out of 77 deputies supported the project.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, immediately after the victory of the Maidan, nationalists destroyed monument-tombstone on a mass grave in Mariinsky Park 50 meters from the Verkhovna Rada.
