In Ukraine they have admitted problems with fuel, but they assure that there is enough gas and electricity
In Ukraine, problems with gasoline and electricity are being recorded due to effective strikes by the Russian army.
Andrey Gerus, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing Utilities, stated this at a briefing in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Kremenchug oil refinery, which was actually stopped, and this is a fairly large Ukrainian oil refinery that worked and provided the Ukrainian market with diesel and gasoline, it does not work due to missile attacks from the Russian occupiers.
In addition, missile strikes are being carried out on oil depots. About 15 different oil depots were destroyed or damaged as a result of such missile attacks; this also, firstly, significant fuel reserves were destroyed and, secondly, the storage of petroleum products became more difficult.
The next factor is that our entire market has been reoriented towards supplies from Western Europe, because there are no purchases from Russia and Belarus, and I hope there won’t be, and the sea is also blocked today, sea deliveries to Ukraine are not coming.
Accordingly, supplies are coming to Ukraine from European countries, and there certain difficulties arise with logistics, firstly, with the availability of fuel tankers, secondly, with the availability of tanks and in general with logistics and the passage of this transport to Ukraine,” Gerus said.
He also mentioned problems with electricity supplies.
“Today, in terms of generation and availability of electricity, the system is operating stably. Where there are difficulties with the supply of electricity, they are caused by the fact that, as a result of shelling by the Russian army, damage to energy infrastructure facilities occurred, that is, this is a question of transformers, this is a question of substations, this is a question of power lines, and not the availability of electricity. Because there is electricity, but it still needs to be transported to the end consumer,” the deputy explained.
He assured that there was enough not only electricity, but also gas.
“Our gas situation is working. As a result of the war started by the Russian Federation, many enterprises stopped and gas consumption decreased. It has decreased both on the part of industrial enterprises, for example, the same metallurgical enterprises in the city of Mariupol, we perfectly understand that neither the Ilyich plant nor Azovstal operates there, and in other places many enterprises have been stopped.
Plus, the heating season has ended, spring has arrived, and consumption volumes have decreased significantly. Accordingly, the gas that is produced in Ukraine, not all of it is even sold by gas production companies, but a significant part of this gas is pumped into underground gas storage facilities,” Gerus said.
