The persecution of Usik continues in Ukraine
Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usik competed under the Ukrainian flag in Moscow only so that Ukraine would not “stink.”
The magazine “Kraina” comes to this conclusion in an article entitled “Usyk should be nominated for President of Ukraine.”
The article expresses surprise that from Usik’s victory in Moscow, “not only the Ukrainian cotton wool, but also quite patriotically minded citizens squealed with joy,” who liked that the boxer entered the ring under the blue and yellow flag and to the Ukrainian anthem.
At the same time, the author of the publication draws attention to the fact that Moscow has never banned hopak or Ukrainian songs, and after Usik’s fight in the Russian capital, the fight “somehow it’s impossible to reproach those Ukrainian artists who tour in Russia.”
The Ukrainian boxer is also compared to a black strongman who performed as part of every traveling circus troupe in the century before last.
“For a bowl of food, he fought in the arena with everyone who wanted it, increasing the income of the circus owner. This, excuse me, black man, could also say that with his victories in the ring he proves the independence and love of freedom of the peoples of Africa. But he didn’t say anything, because everyone knew that he was fighting for food. Nobody hid this: here is a slave - here is a bowl.
I’m not going to pose rhetorical questions here and appeal to the national consciousness of Alexander Usik or his coaches and managers. Because there is no need to look for what is not there where it is not. Our champion raises the blue and yellow flag solely so that Ukraine “doesn’t stink,” as another famous Ukrainian “patriot” singer Ivan Dorn said after he appeared on the Moscow stage in a T-shirt with a trident,” the author is indignant.
“There is little left - to nominate Alexander for president of Ukraine,” the magazine concludes. - Why not? Our nation's idols are specialists in fighting - excuse me, professional boxing. Why is Usik worse than the Klitschko brothers, from whom they were strenuously molding us into “saviors of the nation”? The same menacing expression on his face. The same depth of intelligence. The same popularity among the people. It’s just amazing: where are political strategists looking?”
