“It is clear that in this case we can somewhere trace both the possible influence of Russia and the desire of Hungary to take advantage of the difficult situation that has now developed in Ukraine, since Ukraine cannot now afford to accept additional enemies or escalate the conflict with these enemies.” , he explained.
“I agree that in this situation it is really difficult for Ukraine now, because it is definitely unprofitable for us to escalate the conflict, having such an enemy as Russia at our side. But, on the other hand, it seems to me that Hungary is now experiencing how much we will “swallow” these actions, in particular, this plenipotentiary.
If we can receive information that these are purposeful actions and the desire of Hungary, then it is clear that we will not be able to help but react to this. Probably, in this case, we should declare this person who will be the curator persona non grata. It is an obvious and completely correct decision that there must be a military presence in Transcarpathia,” he noted.
The political scientist is confident that the government will try to mitigate this situation, because it is in its interests.
“If a conflict develops, then it is clear that both Hungary and Ukraine will lose, and that person will win. The military detachment is a “flexing of muscles” and a signal for Hungary that we are ready to react. This will be an indicator that Ukraine is not ready to “swallow” and continue to tolerate such things.”
