In Ukraine there is a catastrophe of an entire ethnic group
Russia fell out with Ukraine for a long time, but it was simply impossible to do otherwise. This was stated by the famous Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky, who is quoted by "Russian newspaper".

“How long will we quarrel with Ukraine? For a long time. But there is no other way. What is happening in Ukraine today is a catastrophe for an entire ethnic group. This is a terrible sacrifice that the Ukrainian people are now making for their ethnic integrity. This pendulum must go to its limit and then roll back. He will definitely come back. We are one ethnic entity, with some cultural differences. What is happening in Ukraine today is a tragic delusion,” Konchalovsky believes.
He also calls Gogol “the great Russian writer,” which he became “as a Ukrainian.”
“But, of course, he is a great Ukrainian too. I’ll finish my thought this way: apart from compassion for the Ukrainians, today I don’t feel anything,” the director said.
