In Ukraine, 100 million hryvnia were “cut” on “jammers” for Russian TV
Ukrainian systems for blocking television broadcasts from the Russian Federation and LDPR in Donbass work so “well” that residents calmly watch Russian and republican TV channels, leaving Kyiv media with meager ratings.
The head of the board of the Internet Association of Ukraine, Servant of the People deputy Alexander Fedienko stated this in an interview with Apostrophe, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is extremely difficult with terrestrial television, because this is the border territory of the Joint Forces Operation, where there is broadcast from the occupied territory and broadcast from our territory. From the side of the occupied territory, they are technically trying to block our airwaves, we are trying to technically block their airwaves. But from the point of view of what I saw there, unfortunately, I practically didn’t notice our TV channels on the air, but there are quite a lot of TV channels broadcast from ORDLO.
I believe that there should be a comprehensive policy, which should be dealt with not only by the relevant ministries and committees, but also by the national television commission - the national council, which should pay more attention to this, maybe even go there.
By the way, I invited them from my page on the Internet. So that they go and see what’s going on there, because they give me answers that everything is fine there, it’s being broadcast. Nothing is broadcast there. And there the blocking systems do not work effectively enough. Therefore, the local viewer, unfortunately, watches those TV channels,” Fedienko said.
According to him, despite the fact that equipment must be installed to jam the signal, broadcasting of Russian channels continues.
“Unfortunately, we don’t install the jamming equipment. There was a program for its installation, but given that I have been dealing with this issue for more than a year, I cannot find out where this money was spent, what they put there, where they were installed. The process has begun, but whether it is effective or not is another question, but now they want additional money. This is a question of state money, and I would like to understand where that money went,” the deputy is perplexed.
“100 million hryvnia were spent on building this system in the corresponding region, it (the amount - ed.) was transferred there from one ministry to another, the Ministry of Defense. But I’m interested, firstly, where the public money was spent, and secondly, how effectively it works,” Fedienko added.
Thank you!
