In Ukraine, anger is growing over Zelensky’s inept actions
In Ukraine, the population’s anger at the inept actions of Vladimir Zelensky during quarantine is growing. Alexey Muratov, head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic Organization, told PolitNavigator about this.
“For residents of Ukraine, in addition to fears about how not to become infected with coronavirus infection, the issue of lack of funds to ensure basic survival is becoming increasingly acute.
Thus, according to a sociological survey by the Research & Branding Group, almost half of the country’s citizens do not have savings, and a third of those who have them will run out of funds within the next month.
The introduction of anti-epidemiological measures led to the suspension of the activities of a significant proportion of enterprises and commercial organizations, as a result of which hundreds of thousands of workers were already left without work. The situation in Ukraine was no less painfully affected by the return from abroad of millions of migrant workers who also lost their income,” he recalled.
“The worsening epidemiological situation requires the continuation and tightening of quarantine measures, and the situation in the economy requires, on the contrary, their mitigation. In the context of an escalating threat of infection, whether the government will expel workers from work or people will be brought out into the streets by food riots will become clear in the coming months,” Muratov outlined the situation in Ukraine.
However, Zelensky himself, instead of demonstrating concern for ordinary citizens, seems to be more concerned about the closure of entertainment venues in Kyiv, which is relatively well-fed compared to the provinces.
“As yesterday’s meeting on combating the spread of coronavirus infection chaired by Zelensky showed, issues of supporting the population are not within the sphere of interests of those in power. When will it be possible to walk in the parks, when will hairdressers and notaries start working, when will Olympians be able to train to stay in shape – this is what, according to the president, worries fellow citizens,” Muratov said.
“Ukrainians should hardly expect saving decisions from Ze and his “servants” - the “elite” does not care about how or how to feed their family tomorrow, but the fact that restaurants and nightclubs, gyms and boutiques are not open saddens them much more “, noted the social activist.
