In Ukraine, 700 thousand entrepreneurs went bankrupt, 3,5 million people are unemployed
In Ukraine, about 3-3,5 million people are unemployed, including on unpaid leave.
Economic expert Viktor Skarshevsky stated this on the NASH channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There were 1,5 million even before quarantine, even 1,6 million if we take statistics according to the ILO methodology. After the introduction of quarantine, according to my estimates, which coincide with others, there are now about 3-3,5 million people without work, without sources of income.
These include the temporarily unemployed and those on unpaid leave. Data from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry say that about 700 thousand entrepreneurs, who provided work for about 4 million people, have closed.
And the gradual easing of quarantine doesn’t really help. In the restaurant market, for example, about 12 thousand points have closed. And this is about 120 thousand people completely unemployed.
I think that after the quarantine is lifted, 30-40% of companies in the restaurant business will simply not resume work,” predicts Viktor Skarshevsky.
