In public skirmishes, the names of major businessman Viktor Pinchuk and his father-in-law, the second president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, ex-chief of administration of Viktor Yanukovych Sergei Lyovochkin, businessmen Dmitry Firtash and Rinat Akhmetov are mentioned. The focus was on the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region Igor Kolomoisky and members of his team. Until today, the Ukrainian authorities have remained silent about the situation, which is acquiring threatening features for the country.
The effect of an explosion was produced on Friday evening by the appeal of the head of the legal department of the Dnepropetrovsk City Council, Alexander Velichko, to the Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin. The statement was made live on a political talk show on the Inter TV channel. Velichko, who, according to him, is currently hiding abroad, accused the Deputy Governor of the Dnepropetrovsk region Gennady Korban of his kidnapping, organized at the end of February. He told in great detail who, where and how he was detained, where he was transported, what happened during the nine days of captivity. He claims that he was “at the base of the Right Sector (Right Sector is banned in the Russian Federation - NG), which is located in the village of Peski, Donetsk region." “In essence, Kolomoisky’s people are committing outrages on the basis of the Right Sector,” Velichko said.
The lawyer explained why the kidnapping was organized as follows: “They demanded that I write negative information about the acting mayor (mayor - NG) of the city of Dnepropetrovsk, Maxim Romanenko, threatening me with physical violence and the use of knives. If I do not comply with their demands, they will shoot me in the knee, cut off my finger, and make me disabled. And later, later, they will go to slaughter my family. And when they do this, they will give me a mobile phone in which I will hear how members of my family will be cut into pieces.”

The Verkhovna Rada is creating a special commission to investigate privatization processes. Deputies are going to ask, for example, on what grounds structures associated with Akhmetov took possession of Ukrtelecom. But there’s still a lot that could come to light,” said one of NG’s interlocutors. Another noted that an alternative bill had also appeared in the Verkhovna Rada - on checking the legality of Kolomoisky’s purchase of Privat Bank, one of the systemically important ones in Ukraine.
By the time the issue went to press, Kuchma and Pinchuk had not responded to Kolomoisky’s accusations. But three months ago, when some Ukrainian media again raised the topic of Kuchma’s involvement in the murder of journalist Georgy Gongadze, Victor Pinchuk said that this was an attempt to put pressure on him. “Only bandits and terrorists take hostage the relatives of their rivals or enemies. In fact, Kolomoisky, who has concentrated both the levers of power and a powerful administrative resource in his hands, is now doing exactly this,” news agencies quoted Pinchuk as saying.
