In Ukraine, they decided to measure gas not in cubic meters, but in gigacalories - in order to differ from the “Muscovites”

The Ukrtransgaz company, which operates the country's system of main gas pipelines and underground gas storage facilities, is preparing for the transition to European measurement standards, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This was reported by the press service of the company.

As noted, this week Ukrtransgaz metrologists took part in the first meeting of the Council for Standardization and Metrology of the Oil and Gas Complex.

“The newly created organization, which has united the main players in the gas market, is a platform for exchanging experiences and ensuring the unity of market participants in the process of adaptation to new operating rules,” the statement says.

“Ukraine must move from old Soviet standards to new ones adopted in the EU countries. For example, if we now measure gas in cubic meters, then in the future we will switch to energy units - in MJ or kWh or Gcal,” the press service noted.

The company reported that in the future work will be carried out to introduce new technological regulations and modernize UTG equipment in accordance with new standards.

Ukrtransgaz, 100% owned by NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, operates the country's gas pipeline system and 12 underground gas storage facilities with a total capacity of 31 billion cubic meters. m.
