In Ukraine, heating mains are torn as a result of Maidan reforms
An increase in gas prices coupled with a decrease in the level of payment for consumed housing and communal services has led to a lack of funds for repairs of the heating and utilities infrastructure.

Energy expert Andrei Gerus stated this at a round table dedicated to the problems of the heating season, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Due to the increase in gas prices, which account for about 80% of the heating and utilities tariff, the tariff burden began to increase. I mean heat tariffs. Therefore, everything else began to shrink, and in connection with this, investment programs certainly did not grow. Plus, there are special accounts where heat and utilities are debited for gas first. If they do not receive 100% of payments from consumers, then the amount that remains does not cover all needs. But people need to pay their salaries, they need to cover operating expenses, they need to pay for electricity. And very often the investment program is not financed. As a result, we see that this results in breaking through heating mains. The tariff is limited, the consumer cannot pay for everything at once,” Gerus said.
