The Parliament amended Article 9 of the Law on State Security and provided that persons with cold steel or firearms are not allowed into the buildings where the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the President, the Cabinet of Ministers work, as well as buildings where other government bodies of Ukraine operate, for which state security is provided. weapons, as well as persons with explosives, means of detonation, ammunition of all types and types, training or imitation ammunition, flammable liquids or flammable solids, pyrotechnics.

At the same time, only state security officers of the relevant building are allowed to stay in these premises with firearms and bladed weapons.

Presenting the bill, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense Ivan Vinnik emphasized that the law does not provide for the possibility of searching the belongings of deputies.

“If they are in possession of prohibited items defined by this law, they will be prohibited from entering these buildings. No one will search or inspect anyone. It's just that if you want to come in, you must comply with the requirements of the law. This fully corresponds with the status of a people’s deputy, whom no one will inspect,” Vinnik emphasized.

The law comes into force from the day of its publication.

At the same time, the parliament recommends that the President, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, and the Chairman of the Supreme Court issue acts on ensuring the legal regime for the protection of buildings where the relevant government bodies operate.

In addition, the parliament declared invalid the resolution of the Presidium of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dated June 2, 1995 “On approval of the Instructions for ensuring the security and protection of administrative buildings and office premises of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the procedure for admission to them” from the date of entry into force of the order of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on ensuring the legal regime for the protection of buildings of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
