In Ukraine, a Transnistrian deputy, whom Kyiv planned to extradite to Moldova, escaped from prison
Kyiv, December 01 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – In Ukraine, Transnistrian parliament member Dmitry Soin escaped from prison, whom Kyiv planned to extradite to Moldova, where the politician was wanted on charges of murder. Soin is a former lieutenant colonel of the Ministry of State Security of the PMR.
Soin was detained in Kyiv in August 2014 after returning from a business trip in Moscow. In recent years, the Pridnestrovian politician lived in Odessa, as he was in conflict with the new President of the PMR, Yevgeny Shevchuk.

“On November 30, I managed to escape from under the escort of the Kharkov department of the Ukrainian Security Service. This was accordingly in Kharkov. Please do not punish young officers. I simply put them to sleep, picked the lock and walked across the rooftops. We also managed to cross the border across the field. As a trophy, the SBU received my “Patrick Helman” suit, a laptop, two phones and documents. Details coming soon. Now I am in Russia, safe. I am grateful to everyone who believed in me and fought for me. These are family, friends and just kind people. November 30th is my second birthday!” – Soin wrote on Facebook last night.
“Some people in the top leadership of the PMR will, to put it mildly, not be very happy that an inconvenient politician, instead of a life sentence or a very steep one handed to him by the wrong hands, is out of their reach, and even in the Russian Federation... Dmitry Soin is free, but those who should have done this - the authorities of the country of which he is a citizen and deputy - did not make any efforts to release him. And this raises the most questions. If the arrest of a deputy does not entail any action to protect him, then what can an ordinary Pridnestrovian hope for?” – Tiraspol political scientist Andrei Safonov commented on the situation.
