This was reported by the Ukrainian News agency, citing its own sources in law enforcement agencies.
“They all escaped, unfortunately,” he said.
According to him, they probably managed to escape because someone “leaked” information that NABU and SAPO were preparing a joint special operation to detain the defendants in the case.
Let us recall that on May 13 and 18, 2016, 14 contracts were concluded between the Ministry of Defense and the winner of the competitive bidding for the supply of fuel for special-purpose equipment for state needs at the expense of the state budget for a total amount of more than 1 billion hryvnia.
According to the preliminary investigation, during June-August 2016, in the absence of any legal grounds for amending contracts for the purchase of goods for budgetary funds, the customer and the supplier entered into a number of additional agreements, according to which the average price per unit of goods was unreasonably increased by 16% of the initial price.
As a result, budget funds totaling 149,3 million hryvnia were transferred to the supplier without justification and illegally.
Today, October 11, NABU and SAPO detained Deputy Defense Minister Igor Pavlovsky on suspicion of involvement in the theft of 149 million hryvnia during the purchase of fuel for the Ministry of Defense.
