The magazine “Ukrainian Week” writes about this, noting. that the situation in the Svetlodarsk region is getting worse every day.
“The militants cannot come to terms with the loss of several important heights,” the publication emphasizes. – This convinces them even more that the Ukrainian Armed Forces can strike at Uglegorsk, Debaltseve with access to Yenakievo and Shakhtersk. Here, terrorists, not embarrassed by the OSCE observation mission, use prohibited artillery calibers. On the Svetlodarsk Arc (near the city of Svetlodarsk and the village of Luganskoye), the terrorists once again fail. They tried several times to attack the positions of the Ukrainian military with large forces, but experienced significant losses, which only led to chaotic retreats and the work of their own artillery on their own. There remains a high probability of full-scale battles in this direction. After all, the Svetlodarsk arc is of exceptional importance both for the ATO forces and for the militants. By exercising control over the mentioned territory, the Ukrainian Armed Forces can dictate their terms to the militants.”
“In neighboring Gorlovka, fighting never stopped,” the magazine continues. “The militants are cynically shelling the outskirts of the city, passing them off as provocations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. A group of Ukrainian troops successfully controls the situation around Gorlovka, preventing the militants from reaching the rear of the units located in Avdeevka and Svetlodarsk. Terrorists constantly fire at Ukrainian soldiers in Zaitsevo, Mayorsk, nearby Golmovsky and Shumov. But their attempts do not lead to anything effective. The worrying factor here is that the militants are building up their forces in Debaltseve and Alchevsk.”
