Ukraine has created a commission to investigate thefts in the Armed Forces of Ukraine over the past 13 years
The Verkhovna Rada has formed a temporary commission of inquiry to conduct an investigation into information on the facts of theft in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the undermining of the state’s defense capability in the period from 2004 to 2017, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
184 deputies voted for the corresponding resolution, according to a message on the parliament’s website.
According to the document, the purpose of the Temporary Investigative Commission is to verify information about the misuse of funds aimed at financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the illegal sale of military property during 2004-2017 in order to confirm or refute these facts.
The main tasks of this commission include verifying the legality and validity of the transfer of military property, equipment, weapons and ammunition to the status of surplus military property during 2004-2017 and verifying information regarding the validity of the cost of alienation of military property, equipment, weapons and ammunition, surplus military property and other objects of ownership of the Ministry of Defense and/or the Armed Forces of Ukraine during 2004 - 2017.
Also, the Temporary Investigative Commission will conduct verifications of information regarding the validity of the amount of compensation for the value of land plots that belonged by right of ownership to the Ministry of Defense and/or the Armed Forces of Ukraine and were alienated and/or transferred for development as part of the implementation of investment projects, programs, targeted use of funds, aimed at financing the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces of Ukraine during 2004-2017, in particular in terms of implementing programs to increase the defense capability and security of the state and development programs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
