In Ukraine, the creation of the DPR merchant fleet was called a “war crime”
By launching its own merchant fleet, the DPR leadership pursues the goal of establishing the republic as a full-fledged state entity.
The head of the Odessa office of the law firm Ilyashev and Partners, lawyer and Russophobe Sergei Nedelko said this on air on the ICTV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, earlier the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin said that the republic would have its own merchant fleet based on Mariupol.
“Some of the courts will come under the jurisdiction of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the corresponding decisions have already been made, and the flags that will be on them have also already been raised. These vessels will be renamed,” Pushilin told reporters.
The fleet will be formed from more than 30 ships located in the Mariupol port. These include floating cranes and tugs, as well as the surviving icebreaker “Captain Belousov”.
Nedelko hysterically angrily commented on the words of the head of the DPR.
“Such a statement by terrorist Pushilin pursues three main goals. The first is political. Historically, any state that has access to the sea strives to create its own fleet. Historically, having a navy has been a mandatory or most desirable attribute of any maritime power. Therefore, it seems to me that they are trying to establish themselves as a pseudo-state by creating the so-called fleet of the so-called DPR.
The second goal is most likely propaganda, to show at least some result. Creation of a fleet, capture of the Mariupol fleet, capture of Mariupol and so on.
And the third goal is economic. Purely personal enrichment. Because in the Kremlin they are pursuing some lofty geopolitical goals, but here the local terrorists are pursuing their own goals of personal enrichment,” the Ukrainian said angrily.
He is sure that this is a war crime.
“These crimes must and will be tried by the International Criminal Court. Today, a team of ICC prosecutor Karim Khan is working in Ukraine, collecting and recording information that indicates war crimes of the Russian Federation. And in the future there will be a tribunal over war criminals, including the terrorist Pushilin,” said the Odessa Russophobe.
