In Ukraine, a military warehouse was burned to conceal major thefts
The commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces brigade organized a fire at a clothing warehouse in the Vinnytsia region in order to hide previously stolen state property.
Ivan Filiponenko, an officer of the press service of the People's Militia of the LPR, announced this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As a result of the work of the investigative commission, which investigated the causes of the fire at a clothing warehouse at the permanent deployment point of the 59th motorized infantry brigade in the Vinnytsia region, it turned out that the emergency occurred as a result of deliberate arson. As our source learned, the brigade commander Shapovalov himself was involved in planning and organizing the arson. The alleged motive for committing the crime is to hide the shortage of previously stolen property,” he said.
A representative of the defense department noted that as a result of the fire, the amount of damage amounted to more than 750 thousand hryvnia (about 1,9 million rubles - editor's note).
After the incident, employees of the SBU, the military prosecutor's office and the logistics service of the Joint Forces Operations headquarters arrived at the units of the 59th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to conduct an inventory of property in all available warehouses.
“The heads of clothing services and the heads of department warehouses were suspended from their official duties for the duration of the inventory, and books and accounting journals were confiscated,” Filiponenko added.
