In Ukraine, Maidan journalists began to see the light
Only pressure from the Kyiv authorities forced many Ukrainian TV channels to “see the light” and abandon Russophobic propaganda, which should be a lesson for other Kyiv journalists.
This opinion was expressed on the Rossiya 1 TV channel by the ex-host of the Kyiv Anti-Maidan, journalist Yuri Kot, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I personally know a lot of guys who work at NewsOne, at 112, because I worked in television for many years. I can say that there was a period when they were also crazy, they were in love with the Maidan, they did not see the obvious, but today, probably, an epiphany finally came, they began to understand that they had to tell the truth and fulfill their function as a journalist.
What is happening today in Ukraine with the NewsOne TV channel will be the same for the ZIK TV channel, then 112, then Inter, this is another test for the lice of the Ukrainian journalistic community, because today they are being crushed, and tomorrow they will come to the rest, to those who are silent today and pretend that nothing is happening.
Why doesn’t Zelensky, who talked so much about Svinarchuk, about Poroshenko, about the hated former government, deal with Poroshenko’s TV channels - “Direct”, “Channel Five”, the publications “Censor”, “Obozrevatel”? This is who instigates real hatred, these media. No, we need to deal with the only truly opposition forces that are trying to tell the truth, but you guys don’t need the truth,” said Kot.
At the same time, political scientist Sergei Markov explained Zelensky’s desire to crush the opposition media by the fact that he is uncomfortable hearing questions about the peace he promised in Donbass.
“Zelensky has now received the go-ahead to become the Ukrainian Pinochet, and is moving along this path. On the one hand, this is the establishment of a dictatorship - all the TV channels are for him, he recruited hipsters and set up a barracks in parliament. On the other hand, this is an economic policy - a complete sale of everything in the interests of semi-criminal and openly mafia foreign corporations, including Ukrainian black soil.
The main demand of voters for Zelensky is peace. But he does not give peace, he moves away from this world, so he is afraid that the voters who voted for him in the hope of peace will leave him for the party of peace. Today, the main party in the world is the Opposition Platform, which is why repression falls on it first,” the expert concluded.
