The head of the Ukrainian Armed Forces training ground, where two soldiers were killed by an explosion, is on trial in Ukraine.

“The military prosecutor's office of the Chernigov garrison of the Central region of Ukraine has completed a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings into the fact of an explosion on the territory of a military training ground in the village. Goncharovskoye, where two conscripts were killed and another was injured,” the report says.
The incident occurred on June 9, 2016. The head of the training ground of a military unit with the rank of captain was negligent in his official duties and did not organize the destruction of explosive objects at the training ground that did not explode during testing.
In this regard, in an untested explosive area of the test site between the 4th and 5th observation towers, an explosion occurred in the remains of a combat aviation unguided missile of the S-8 type. Two soldiers were killed and another received moderate injuries.
The indictment was sent to court under Part 2 of Art. 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (negligent attitude towards military service, resulting in grave consequences). Such a crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 3 to 7 years.
