This opinion was expressed in an interview with Kraina magazine by Maxim Yakovlev, a teacher of political science and sociology at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, answering the question of whether effective decommunization and de-Sovietization of Ukraine is needed.
“I support the symbolic-spatial revolution - the renaming of streets. But “Sovietism” in Ukraine survives due to many practices that are not followed. For example, ritual actions. In education, students stand before teachers. Or bosses always have a reception area in front of their office, where a red carpet is laid out and a secretary sits. These poisonous Soviet habits influence the worldview. We need to get rid of them,” the political scientist urges.
As PolitNavigator reported, during the inauguration of President Poroshenko, right in front of him on the red carpet fainted and dropped the weapon of the honor guard soldier.
