In Ukraine, they demand the creation of tribunals for international robbery
Since Ukraine is not in a position to seize Russian property around the world, it is necessary to demand that Western bloc countries create special tribunals that will allow this.
Maria Zakharova, head of interaction with government authorities of the ProZorro system, stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The issue with foreign assets is very complex. Within the borders of Ukraine, we can pass laws that suit us and dispose of these seized assets as we want. And when we talk about assets abroad, the legislation of other countries and their approaches to confiscation are involved. The Ministry of Justice should work here and create criminal justice tribunals to decide what to do with the asset,” Zakharova said.
She noted that, contrary to Kyiv’s expectations, the West reacted favorably to the legal chaos happening in Ukraine.
“Given how international partners and donors speak about the changes already introduced, it looks like they support and consider the measures that are being taken now sufficient.
When laws on forced confiscation of Russian property were adopted, they were supported by the European Commission and delegation. There were no serious comments that this was a violation of property rights, illegal, and so on,” Zakharova added.
