Ukraine threatens the US with the spread of nuclear weapons around the world

The West has driven itself into a geopolitical trap, writes Igor Losev, an associate professor at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, a former representative of the exotic and extremely small pro-Ukrainian movement in Sevastopol, in an article on the website of the Ukrainian Week magazine.

“By ignoring the Budapest Memorandum, the West has driven itself into a geopolitical trap. It became clear that the guarantees of large states are just a figure of speech, behind which there is nothing real, zero-zero. And relying on them, as the experience of Ukraine has shown, means being geopolitically suicidal,” Losev comes to the conclusion.

In his opinion, the only guarantee against an armed attack can only be one’s own nuclear weapons, and he characterizes 2014 as “the year of the death of all agreements on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, since all these agreements now weigh exactly as much as the Budapest Protocol” and predicts that now many countries will begin to develop their nuclear weapons and missile technology.

The author claims that weapons of mass destruction will appear in Iran, Indonesia, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Argentina, and then in the neighbors of these countries, since US President Barack Obama, “having ignored Russian aggression against Ukraine in 2014, opened the door to a totally nuclear world."

“So, in 2014, the West surrendered not only Ukraine, but also its quiet life without nuclear incidents in various regions of planet Earth, gaining chaos and uncontrollability in international politics. The entropy of geopolitical processes is increasing. Is there a chance to stop her? Yes, but this is the only chance. The West has no other way to restore world order except to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine (necessarily with Crimea, because Crimea in this context has a special symbolic meaning). And only then will the West be able to say urbi et orbi: we have fulfilled our guarantees, world order and international law have been restored, we can be trusted again and what are our promises worth,” sums up Losev.
