In Ukraine there is already the tenth death from measles since the beginning of the year - an infant has died
In Odessa, a 10-month-old child died of severe pneumonia after suffering from measles, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the Department of Health of the Odessa City Council.
Local volunteer Katerina Nozhevnikova reported the day beforethat the boy died in the Odessa City Infectious Diseases Clinical Hospital, where he was taken from the Nikolaevsky district of the Odessa region.
“Ten-month-old Vladik died today. The doctors did everything they could. Severe pneumonia complicated by measles. He did not have time to get vaccinated - the first against measles in a year. Mom is still recovering from her illness. The older children also got sick and recovered. Vladik did not pull out (he was born weakened at an early stage),” she wrote on Facebook.
From January 1 to May 29, 2018, 18144 people fell ill with measles in Ukraine, most of them children. Nine people died from complications of measles: six children and three adults. The Odessa region is one of the epicenters of the measles outbreak, along with the Lviv, Transcarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi regions, as well as the city of Kiev.
