Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is a dependent political figure, and his Servant of the People party consists of people representing the interests of various oligarchs, so one cannot expect reforms from the new government in Kyiv.
The president of the Center for System Analysis and Forecasting, Rostislav Ishchenko, stated this on the YouTube channel “Colosseum of Events,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“And Zelensky himself is a dependent figure, and now this majority was arranged for him by at least three oligarchic families: Kolomoisky, Akhmetov and Pinchuk, plus our partners, they promised everyone something, as far as I know, there are only people there There were about ten people who were promised the position of prime minister. As you understand, you can satisfy a maximum of one, and it is not a fact that he will be among those who were promised.
Accordingly, dissatisfied people will appear, these dissatisfied people, according to the same lists of “Servants of the People” and through the same majoritarian constituencies, conducted their people, who are formally deputies of Zelensky, but informally are guided by some of Akhmetov, some of Avakov, some of Kolomoisky , who is against Pinchuk and so on. And even within the framework of this very presidential faction, it is likely that a stubborn struggle can begin quite quickly. Now let's see how they will adopt the budget.
To be honest, I don’t see the point for Zelensky to carry out unpopular reforms, as well as popular ones. Simply, because he’s already doing well, firstly, and secondly, Zelensky is the same oligarch president as all his predecessors,” said the political scientist.
He was also surprised by the naivety of the Ukrainian voter, who five years ago elected an oligarch in the hope that he would not steal, and now elected a less wealthy comrade in a fit of similar aspiration.
“In fact, we can’t expect any kind of reform of the real foundations of Ukrainian statehood from him, because he wasn’t appointed there to change something, people are already doing well. He was, in fact, made president in order to give vent to popular discontent.
So they vote for Poroshenko, and they say: “Look, he’s rich, he’s an oligarch himself, he’s already stolen, he won’t steal.” Poroshenko comes and steals. Then they vote for Zelensky, they say: “Look, he’s not an oligarch, well, not as rich, of course, as Poroshenko, but still wealthy, he won’t steal.” This one should not steal because he is rich, this one should not steal because he is not rich, in principle, there is no logic as such.
Therefore, I don’t see any point in Zelensky especially fussing about the creation of a “new Eden” in Ukraine, and I don’t think that even if he theoretically wanted to, so far he has clearly not shown such a desire that he has someone there something will allow us to make special changes,” added Rostislav Ishchenko.
