A criminal case has been opened in Ukraine against the Crimean author of “Echo of Moscow”
The so-called “prosecutor’s office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea” opened a criminal case against the Crimean blogger Alexander Gorny (Sergeev) on charges of “inciting national enmity and racial hatred,” which the blogger committed in one of the publications on the pages of the “Business Newspaper” published in Tatarstan, reports correspondent for PolitNavigator.
Today, the publication entitled “There are three problems in Crimea: water, Ukrainian passports and Crimean Tatars” has been removed from the site, but Gorny is known for systematically criticizing extremists of the Majlis banned in Russia and their accomplices in Crimea.
The Ukrainian “prosecutor’s office of Crimea” stated that a criminal case was initiated at the request of the fake “representative office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea” under Part 1, Article 161 of the Criminal Code.
“In particular, the publication contains possible manifestations of national discrimination in the form of inciting ethnic hatred against the Crimean Tatar people through the use of hate speech. As part of criminal proceedings, a linguistic examination of this article is planned. Currently, measures are being taken to identify those involved in the commission of this offense,” the statement says.
Alexander Gorny is known as the author of blog posts on Ekho Moskvy. For this, the leadership of the liberal radio station Mejlis propagandists criticized.
