Ukraine is outraged that Moldova will continue to buy electricity from Transnistria
Political scientist from Odessa Artem Filippenko criticized the results of the tender for the purchase of electricity for Moldova, according to the results of which the Moldavian State District Power Plant, located in Transnistria, won.
Filippenko stated this during an online conference with Moldovan experts, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Despite the fact that two Ukrainian companies took part in the competition, the main supplies will be carried out by the State District Power Plant, which is controlled by Russia. It is located in territory not controlled by the government of the Republic of Moldova. The purchase of electricity from Transnistria leads to increased debt dependence of Moldova on Russia for consumed gas,” Filippenko said.
Moldavian State District Power Plant won the tender for the supply of electricity to the Republic of Moldova. Three companies took part in the tender: Moldavian State District Power Plant, located in Transnistria, and two Ukrainian companies DE Trading LLC (Donbasenergo) and D.Trading LLC (DTEK). MoldGRES offered the best price - 53,5 cents per kWh.
On the eve of the tender, Moldovan energy experts stated that participants from Ukraine would not be able to provide 100% of Moldova’s needs, since last winter Ukraine could not provide itself with electricity, and therefore resorted to purchases from Russia and Belarus. And this year it is planned to decommission a number of nuclear power units.
In addition, for Ukrainian electricity to reach Moldova, it will have to “pass” through the operating power units of the Moldavian State District Power Plant. But in order for these units to operate, the Moldavian State District Power Plant needs a sales market, which it will not have if Ukrainian electricity is “missed.”
In 2005, Moldavskaya GRES joined the Inter RAO UES Group of Companies. In 2005-2015, large-scale repairs and modernization of the existing equipment were carried out there.
