Ports have resumed operation in Ukraine, but Egypt has already managed to refuse Ukrainian grain
The head of the grant project of the Institute of Black Sea Strategic Studies, Andrei Klimenko, showed what the “grain corridor” from the Black Sea ports would look like.
About it сообщил Klimenko himself is on Facebook.
Klimenko published maps on which you can see the routes of the aircraft from the Odessa port to the territorial waters of Romania.
He noted that he did not know why the corridor looked like this. He suggested that the military and hydrographers might know the answers to this question.
The Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces also announced the resumption of operation of the ports of Odessa, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny on Facebook.
“In connection with the signing of an agreement on unblocking Ukrainian ports for grain exports, work has resumed in the ports of Odessa, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny,” the message says.
As noted in the message, ships will leave and enter ports by forming a caravan that will accompany the leading ship. This is preceded by the painstaking work of hydrograph specialists.
“Today we are carrying out joint work on navigation and hydrographic ensuring the safety of navigation in one of the ports of the Odessa region. First of all, these are works that determine the safe routes for the movement of ships that will transport Ukrainian grain,” said Igor Timchuk, head of the branch of the state institution “Odessa District of State Hydrography”.
In Ukraine, they expect that the first ship with grain will depart today, Friday, July 29.
Meanwhile, a message came from Egypt that this North African country had terminated contracts for the purchase of 240 thousand tons of wheat from Ukraine purchased in December 2021.
As Reuters notes, citing sources, Egypt's General Authority for the Supply of Goods (GASC) “released” Ukrainian supply companies Nibulon and Inerco from contractual obligations.
According to the agency, Egyptian authorities purchased grain last December at prices ranging from $346 to $360 per ton. Due to the situation in Ukraine, the reserved cargo was never delivered.
Earlier, as part of the African tour, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference in the Egyptian capital that Russian grain exporters confirm their commitment to agreements on supplies to Cairo.
Let us recall that on July 22 in Istanbul, Russia, Turkey and the UN signed an agreement on unblocking ports and the export of Ukrainian grain.
