For the first time in Ukraine, a film pirate is being tried for secretly recording a film in a cinema.
In Ukraine, for the first time, a criminal case was sent to court for the so-called camcording - hidden video recording of a film in a cinema, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by the head of the Cyber Police Department, Sergei Demedyuk, the press service of the National Police reports.
For the first time, a case has been brought to court against a young man who filmed premiere screenings of films in cinemas and sold these videos for distribution on pirate sites, the report said.
“The case was classified under Part 1 of Art. 176 (Infringement of copyright and related rights) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Now a resident of the city of Krivoy Rog faces up to two years in prison,” Demedyuk noted.
According to the department, in the first days of Operation Pirates, employees of the cyber police department stopped the activities of four pirate Internet resources: kinogo.co.ua, uafilm.top, ukrfilm.top and kino-hd.top.
During the month of Operation Pirate, the cyber police stopped the activities of more than 30 pirate resources. 19 criminal proceedings have been initiated in the field of violation of intellectual property rights, of which four persons have already been informed of suspicion.
