The corresponding decision was made at today's extraordinary government meeting, the CMU website reports.
"Decision is made. We will do everything to ensure that, and now we will do everything to prevent or minimize any outages. That is, we will manage the system in such a way as to minimize negative consequences for people. I would like to emphasize that shutdowns will occur only in extreme cases and we will inform you about this in advance. Now the question is not raised,” said Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman.
Energy Minister Igor Nasalik noted that a transition to manual energy control is planned and possible rolling blackouts are envisaged.
“It is assumed that we will use rolling blackouts in order to balance the production and consumption of electrical energy,” the official said.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator previously reported, according to Ukrenergo, subject to the introduction of a state of emergency in the electric power industry, anthracite coal will last for 40 days, after which rolling blackouts are possible.
The introduction of a state of emergency was the authorities’ response to the so-called militants’ “ATO” blockade of the railway in Donbass, due to which power plants and large industrial enterprises in the region have stopped or are on the verge of stopping.
