In Ukraine, 12 million were allocated from the budget for the filming of a film glorifying Petliura’s anti-Semitic atamans
Today, December 19, the State Film Agency of Ukraine signed a contract with the TET-Production company to provide state funding for the film “Zalishenets. Black Raven” - based on the scandalous anti-Semitic and Russophobic novel by nationalist writer Vasily Shklyar, glorifying Petliura’s atamans.

The total cost of production of the film is estimated at 23,7 million UAH, of which the state will provide about 12 million UAH.
Film project of the full-length feature film “Zalishenets. Black Raven” became one of the winners of the Ninth competitive selection of Goskino. The author of the film's script is Andrey Kokotyukha, the director is Oleg Turansky, the producers are Alexander Tkachenko, Elena Vasilyeva, Marina Gorodetskaya and Victoria Zabulonskaya.
According to the script, the Kholodnoyarsk Petliurite ataman Black Raven returns to his native land to rouse the people to revolt against Soviet power, but does not find the support of the masses. The government of the Petlyura UPR in exile also calls to stop fighting. Raven can leave Ukraine with the woman he loves, but refuses to leave in order to continue the fight.
“Black Raven” is based not only on the best-selling novel of the same name, but, first of all, on real events and facts of the heroic history of Ukraine. This is a love story during the liberation war. In order to continue his struggle, the hero sacrifices the most precious thing in his life,” says the film’s director, Turansky.
Let us recall that immediately after the release of Shklyar’s book “Black Raven”, it was criticized in Ukraine for numerous anti-Semitic and Russophobic passages in the text.
