“During this year, 7 thousand 123 people were detained for corruption crimes, of which (cases - ed.) 2 thousand 222 have currently been transferred to court. Taking into account last year’s 1, this, during my period, is about 700 corrupt officials who are in the courts,” Lutsenko emphasized.
According to the Prosecutor General, he expects that by the end of the year 5 thousand cases will be brought to court, because on average three corrupt officials are detained every day, sometimes 10.
“So that there hasn’t been a single one (detained - ed.) - there hasn’t been a single day yet,” added Lutsenko.
At the same time, in early September, Luceno stated that 1,2 thousand bribe-takers had been detained in six months.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator previously reported, according to a survey by the international organization Transparency, almost 90% of Ukrainians do not believe in the possibility of overcoming corruption under the current regime.
