The Solomensky District Court took into custody the deputy chairman of the board of Oschadbank, Irina Zemtsova, who is suspected of involvement in the embezzlement of $20 million from the state bank, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This decision was made on Thursday, October 25, Valentin Musiyaka, prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, told Ukrayinska Pravda.
According to him, the anti-corruption prosecutor's office asked the court to take Zemtsova into custody with bail of 50 million hryvnia, but the judge decided to set an alternative bail of 7 million hryvnia.
Musiyaka noted that if this amount is paid, she will be assigned a number of responsibilities. In particular, Zemtsova must wear an electronic bracelet, surrender all passports, and she is also prohibited from communicating with other defendants in the case, etc.
The prosecutor added that in parallel, different judges are holding hearings regarding other defendants and there is already a decision on two or three suspects to take them into custody. He did not specify who exactly.
In the case of misappropriation of funds from the state-owned Oschadbank, law enforcement officers detained the son of MP Stanislav Berezkin, Maxim.
Earlier, NABU and SAPO reported that they were investigating the theft of 20 million US dollars from a state bank, organized by MP Stanislav Berezkin.
The SAPO promised to send a proposal to the GPU in the near future to lift the immunity of the people's deputy himself.
