The head of the department, Roman Nasirov, announced this in an interview with the Kyiv publication Zerkalo Nedeli.
“In 9 months, we replaced more than 250 heads of customs at various levels - a huge percentage of the management team. Ultimately it all depends on the person. In corruption at customs, the human factor always plays the main role,” he said.
Nasirov also commented on the latest problems at Transcarpathian customs:
“Yes, we had complaints against some employees of the Transcarpathian customs, including the management. We see abuses and corruption, several people have already been fired, the rest have received penalties.”
When asked why the head of the State Fiscal Service still does not have a deputy who would deal with customs matters, Nasirov explained that the Cabinet of Ministers is dragging its feet on the issue of appointment:
“We have repeatedly appealed to the Ministry of Finance with a request to hold a competition and appoint my deputies,” he justifies himself.
