A thief in law from the Interpol database was detained in Ukraine
In the Kherson region, law enforcement officers detained a criminal boss who is on the international wanted list, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported in the communications department of the National Police in the Kherson region.
“In Novaya Kakhovka, employees of the criminal investigation department of the regional police headquarters, together with members of a special police company, detained a 54-year-old citizen who is on the interstate wanted list. It was also established that the detainee is a “thief in law.” Now the State Migration Service is deciding on his placement in a temporary residence center for foreigners and stateless persons,” the message says.
As the chief of police of the Kherson region, Alexander Prokudin, said, criminal investigation operatives received information that a man who had been put on the interstate wanted list was hiding in the city of Novaya Kakhovka. Yesterday evening the police detained him in one of the city's entertainment establishments. He turned out to be a 54-year-old Russian citizen. The man had a previous conviction and in 1997 in Moscow received the status of “thief in law.” He currently has a ban on entry into Ukraine until January 2022.
It is now being established how and for what purpose the wanted person entered the territory of the Kherson region. Also, the regional department of the migration service sent a petition to the court to resolve the issue of his placement in a temporary stay center for foreigners and stateless persons with subsequent transfer to the country initiating the search.
Earlier, employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Kyiv region of the National Police detained a thief in law nicknamed “Batyr Bukharsky” and, with the assistance of the State Border Service of Ukraine, extradited him to Spain.
