Subsidies for the population are running out in Ukraine
The Ukrainian government raises tariffs for the population, while officials write millions in bonuses for themselves.
Viktor Bondar, (“Renaissance”), stated this at a meeting of the Conciliation Council of faction leaders and chairmen of committees of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The cynicism of the authorities towards Ukrainians today is off the charts. The latest cooperation program with the IMF and the World Bank shows that the government is ready to make any concessions for the sake of loans and do everything that external creditors demand, just to stay in power for at least another year. For the sake of loans, the government is ready not only to create an anti-corruption court, which falls outside the general constitutional system of courts, but is also ready to raise tariffs for the sake of loans, sell land, kill industrial production, buy industrial products abroad at a time when the Ukrainian economy and industry is sagging and is in intensive care “, said the deputy.
He added that the population is offered only subsidies as an alternative to high tariffs, the volume of which for this year exceeded 70 billion hryvnia, but this amount is no longer enough.
“They are already reducing the categories of people who will receive this money. With tariff increases, the government had to find another 20-40 billion hryvnia for these subsidies. But the government and Naftogaz are writing out a $45 million bonus for themselves for winning the case in Stockholm. This is 1 billion 240 million hryvnia. A Ukrainian teacher has to work for almost 400 years to get the amount they write out for themselves each – a million dollars for 46 people,” Bondar said.
