In Ukraine, a criminal case against an odious associate of Yanukovych was closed
The Odessa prosecutor's office closed the criminal case against ex-“regional” Yuri Ivanyushchenko, who is close to Viktor Yanukovych, known in Ukraine under the nickname “Yura Enakievsky,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Ukrainian media reported this with reference to the prosecutor's decision.
The case concerned the possible misappropriation of state budget funds on an especially large scale, as well as raiding of the famous “7 kilometer” market.
In particular, it was about falsifying the minutes of the general meeting of market owners and organizing to demand from them the transfer of a stake in the enterprise.
However, during the investigation, law enforcement officers decided that Ivanyushchenko’s actions did not constitute a crime. Thus, the market owners who donated their shares to the nerdep’s entourage denied any influence on them. Other witnesses also spoke about the lack of pressure: a notary and former employees.
In addition, on April 11, the prosecutor's office received a request to close the case from one of the owners, Irina Chernat, who was a victim in the case due to the possible forgery of her signature. The woman referred to the lack of material and moral claims.
The prosecutor also notes that in 2017, the Economic Court of the Odessa Region considered the claim of Chernat, who asked to invalidate the donation agreement for her share. However, the court found the woman’s position unproven and rejected her.
The second episode of the closed criminal case is the theft of the so-called “Kyoto money” received by Ukraine from the sale of greenhouse gas emissions quotas to Japan.
The prosecutor's office investigated the allocation of this money for the implementation of green investment projects. The million-dollar tender was then won by Karpatybudinvest, which is associated with Ivanyushchenko.
Law enforcement officials say that examinations and court decisions confirmed that the company properly completed the work, but the state has not yet paid it in full and owes more than 40 million hryvnia.
During interrogations, the directors of Karpatybudinvest and Derzhekoinvest told the investigation about tenders, conclusion of contracts and assured that the company had completed the ordered work.
In the end, the prosecutor came to the conclusion that these grounds refute the information from the criminal complaint filed by the Anti-Corruption Center.
