About it Kyiv grant publication “Telekritika” said the head of Goskino Filipp Ilyenko.

“Today we canceled the distribution certificate for this series. First, the producer, in our opinion, provided false information regarding the fact that a significant part of the film was filmed in Ukraine. In the last few days, we carried out an additional check and it turned out that not entirely accurate data was submitted, so we canceled the rental certificate,” he said.

According to Ilyenko, Goskino relies on the information that the applicant submits when receiving a rental certificate.

“We are checking, and sometimes there may be times when it is difficult to check something, so deeper checks are needed. But this is really very difficult to do, because formally we do not have the authority to carry out inspections of private productions,” Ilyenko noted.

The premiere of the series “Circle” in Russia took place on March 13, 2017 on the channel “Russia 1”. The original data for the series states that it is a joint production of Russia, Ukraine and Poland. Production companies: ABC Film, “Russkoe” and “Film Stream”. There is information in open sources that the series was filmed in Russia.

As you know, in February 2015, the Verkhovna Rada adopted Law No. 159-VIII, which provides for the protection of the information television and radio space of Ukraine. It states that starting from June 4, 2015, public broadcasting of films and other Russian-made television and radio products created after January 1, 2014 is prohibited.

After this, the TV channel “Ukraine” violated this law several times and Goskino banned showing the series that it broadcast. According to the results of monitoring by the National Council, “Ukraine” broadcasts banned Russian TV series more often than other channels.
