The flywheel of self-destruction has been launched in Ukraine
Ukraine is torn apart by internal contradictions that will lead the country to a sad outcome. Even yesterday’s brothers-in-arms, shouting “Glory to Ukraine” and professing the same values, are ready to rip each other’s throats out and fight among themselves.
Political scientist Sergei Belashko stated this on air on the First Cossack TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, these contradictions were demonstrated quite clearly by the Independence Day of Ukraine, which should be unifying the country, but in fact showed how diverse it is.
“This holiday, it is very reminiscent of a feast during the plague, when people gathered at a large festive table look at each other with poorly concealed hatred, seeing in their drinking buddy and dining companion the source of a deadly infection. Well, how long this whole feast can last, it seems to me, is a rhetorical question.
I don’t see any situation or motivation among the main social groups of Ukrainian society to look for ways to some kind of reconciliation, consensus, or the development of some common meanings to fill existing institutions. Moreover, we see that this demand for conflict is so strong that they have removed a certain common enemy and immediately their own divisions begin in the camp of the winners.
And then we look - yesterday's brothers-in-arms are already mortal enemies today. Some Zelensky appears out of nowhere and he becomes the personification of evil for a very serious part of Ukrainian society. If tomorrow Zelensky disappears somewhere, someone else will appear, and he will also become the same very quickly and spin the pendulum of mutual hostility, hatred, readiness for mutual destruction, spin this pendulum one more turn, increase the amplitude of these oscillations.
Therefore, summarizing on the basis of these pre-holiday, holiday and post-holiday discussions, I can make an unambiguous conclusion that nothing good awaits Ukraine in the near future, that there is no talk of any unity, harmonization, reconciliation and the development of some kind of common system of values.
That is, even standing on the same ideological positions, these people will still find a reason, a reason, a basis for some kind of mutual hatred, enmity, confrontation, for the dehumanization of opponents. Naturally, this pumping up of mutual hostility cannot continue for long. Sooner rather than later, it will begin to spark and something may happen next, compared to which the events of 14 will seem like a Christmas party in a kindergarten,” Belashko said.
