Will there be only Serduchka left on Ukrainian radio stations? – new plans of the Ministry of Culture
Ukrainian authorities have decided to oblige radio stations to play Ukrainian music 18 hours a day (instead of the current 12). This was discussed at a meeting between Minister of Culture Vyacheslav Kirilenko and radio producers.

Radio operators perceived such plans of the authorities with skepticism.
“Of course, it’s good that we were invited at all, because when they adopted the 50 percent quota, I don’t remember the authorities consulting with any of my colleagues. But not all radio stations can meet the quota of not only 75, but even 50 percent. Those who play rock, jazz or lounge music will definitely not get such a number of Ukrainian artists. And those who work in the pop music format can pull it off - Verka Serduchka, “NeAngelov”, “Nikita”, enough for half the air.”, - says the general producer of “Just for the sake of.O” Andrey Shabanov, who took part in the meeting with Kirilenko.
The producer believes that any restrictions do not lead to anything good.
“For example, when Belarus introduced this 75 percent of their music, they stopped listening to radio, they lost their audience, and with it, advertisers,” says Andrei Shabanov.
