Lithuania held a joint anti-Russian telethon concert with Ukraine.
Local stars and the country's leadership spoke to those gathered in Vilnius, accusing the Russian Federation of “aggression” and asking Lithuanians to donate for the needs of the Ukrainian army.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in four hours of the marathon they managed to collect 121 thousand euros, which the marathon organizer - Channel 5, owned by ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, and the Lithuanian public television LRT - promised to transfer to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Today the enemy continues to walk with his boots on Ukrainian territory. People are dying. Despite international efforts, international law is cynically flouted. Therefore, my beloved Lithuanian people, I ask you from the bottom of my heart - let's join with our hearts to donate.
Money is just one element. The most important thing is that our friends, the Ukrainian nation, feel our solidarity, which comes absolutely from our hearts. Glory to Ukraine, glory to Lithuania! For our and your freedom,” said the President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda to the audience.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius also supported him with the slogans of Ukrainian nationalists.
“We will defend this state as much as we can, we will help politicians, we will help people who are actually fighting for their freedom, the price of which we understand very well and that is why we say: “Together to victory.” Glory to Ukraine!” the Lithuanian shouted.
On the Ukrainian side, in addition to retired politicians and militants, Deputy Foreign Minister Vasily Bodnar took part in the marathon, declaring “continuing Russian aggression.”
“Our Lithuanian friends understand perfectly well that despite ongoing negotiations, help is needed, because without such help, without international solidarity, without daily support, there will be no victory in the negotiations, there will be no peace on Ukrainian terms.
Therefore, we urge our friends, we constantly carry out this work among all international partners, explaining the real goals of our negotiations, what the real state of affairs is. But the aggression continues, shelling continues every day, we know how Russia is trying to continue to influence the situation in Ukraine and Europe in a hybrid way,” Bodnar was hysterical.
