At a Ukrainian checkpoint near Donetsk, a soldier was shot trying to separate fighting colleagues

On October 18, 2014, at night, at the Nikolaevka checkpoint, located in the Artemovsky district of the Donetsk region, a conflict occurred between an ensign and a senior sergeant. The reason was a remark made by a senior officer who found his subordinate sleeping at his post. Instead of adequately responding to the remark, the senior sergeant took out his Makarov pistol and, defiantly threatening the warrant officer, sent a live cartridge into the chamber.
After a short verbal altercation, a fight broke out between the colleagues, during which Art. The sergeant fired a pistol shot, as a result of which a private who was nearby and was trying to separate the fighters was wounded.
On February 18, 2015, the Artyomovsky court of the Donetsk region sentenced the senior sergeant to 3 years in prison with a probationary period of 1 year.
A similar incident occurred on the territory of a military unit stationed in the Mariupol area, where a mobilized serviceman threatened to shoot the commander of his unit with a machine gun for systematic comments addressed to him regarding unsatisfactory performance of service. In this case, there were no casualties, and the arrogant fighter got away with 4 months in the guardhouse.
