On Ukrainian TV they are campaigning for the refusal to return Donbass - it will interfere with “going to Europe”
Simple federalization is not enough for the Donbass republics, and in the next 10-20 years they will not return to Ukraine. Ukrainian journalist Yanina Sokolovskaya, former editor-in-chief of the newspaper Izvestia in Ukraine, stated this on the NewsOne TV channel.

According to her, in this regard, the only acceptable option for Kyiv would be to freeze the conflict and build relations with the republics following the example of Transnistria and Moldova.
“In the next 10, or even 20 years, they will not return, I think so. We need to take this into account. At the cost of sacrifice, war, and lack of money, they got what they believe is their state. After this, federalization is no longer enough for them. They see themselves as Transnistria. As I understand it, the Kyiv side also sees them as Transnistria.
And in the electoral process they are not needed at all, because this will be a choice completely different from what Kyiv needs. It will not be in the direction of Europe. Based on this, we need to freeze the conflict and move to the Transnistria stage. There are already some signs of such a transition, because it is no secret that we buy coal not from South Africa, but from those republics that we do not recognize. And Ukrzaliznitsa is transporting it very carefully,” Sokolovskaya said.
