Ukrainian TV announces imminent seizure of Lavra
The recognition of Ukraine as the canonical territory of the Patriarchate of Constantinople and its lifting of the anathema from the schismatic Denisenko-Filaret is the legalization of the schism of world Orthodoxy.
Political journalist Vyacheslav Pikhovshek said this on the air of “NewsOne”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“This is the legalization of a split. A terrible precedent has been created. Any schismatic, of which there are many in the world, knows that under certain political circumstances his activities can be justified. The decision of Constantinople opened “Pandora’s Box”, because in every Orthodox church schismatics will be able to demand their recognition and this is chaos for the entire Orthodox world,” the journalist believes.
In his opinion, such a decision will not be supported by other churches around the world.
“I am convinced that other churches will not support such a decision. In the case of Ukraine, the decision of Constantinople opens the way to conflicts and the seizure of churches. All are canon, that's how it turns out. I believe that in the near future we can expect the adoption of anti-church bills in the Rada and the seizure of laurels. Yes, this is a serious problem, which, from my point of view, still happened,” Pihovšek stated with regret.
