On Ukrainian TV they suggested dealing with McCain “more professionally” than with Bandera
It is possible and necessary to immortalize the name of American Senator John McCain in the capital of Ukraine, but it is worth waiting a little until the Ukrainians themselves mature enough to understand the need for such an initiative.
Ukrainian political scientist Vitaly Bala and candidate of legal sciences Alexander Moskalenko came to this opinion on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On Facebook, there have been repeated initiatives from various public opinion leaders regarding naming one of the highways in Kyiv after John McCain,” the TV channel presenter asked the topic of the conversation.
“This needs to be done, but it needs to be approached in a balanced and professional manner. So that it doesn’t happen like with Bandera Avenue, which runs through the Moscow Bridge. But this must be done,” said Vitaly Bala.
“I agree, but my only warning is that this issue probably needs to be resolved not now, but in three years, when there will be a more balanced position in society. It seems to me that such steps “on the wave” should not be taken, especially in the conditions of Ukrainian society,” supported the political scientist Alexander Moskalenko.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, television propagandist Dmitry Gordon said that he has a negative attitude towards the historical figure of Stepan Bandera, but prefers to “put his opinion in one place” for the sake of the integrity of Ukraine.
