Russian liberal publicist Leonid Radzikhovsky spoke about this on the air of the Ukrainian Radio Liberty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This situation can last as long as possible. There are no sanctions that would ruin Russia and drive its people to despair. Or rather, they exist, but they will cost the West too much. “Gentlemen in pith helmets” prefer to count their money and are not inclined to make gestures that are not beneficial to them. Therefore, the West will not agree to such sanctions, and pin pricks against some representatives of the elite do not work.
On the other hand, the version of the “big deal” that is being dreamed about in Russia, which assumes that the Russian Federation will offer something for which they can give up Donbass (Crimea is not discussed - it is part of Russia) is also unrealistic, the West will not agree to this. For Trump himself, this is a much greater “loss of face” than for Putin. Plus all these accusations that he is supposedly a Russian spy. In my opinion, today this is a balance of power,” Radzikhovsky said.
