Ukrainian TV called for direct negotiations with the LDPR
This year, Kyiv must finally begin to strictly implement the Minsk agreements and initiate direct negotiations with the Donbass republics - otherwise peace will not come.
Ukrainian military historian and journalist Yuri Dudkin stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The first point of the Minsk agreements is a ceasefire and withdrawal from the contact line, to come to an agreement, to come into direct contact with Donetsk and Lugansk. Kyiv should long ago speak not through Minsk, but directly with Donetsk and Lugansk, and withdraw its heavy weapons, tanks and troops from the demarcation line not 500 meters, not a kilometer, but 50 and 100 kilometers. And only then will hostage-takings and exchanges stop, because they will never stop as long as the two sides quarrel and fight,” the expert explained.
At the same time, in his opinion, it is high time for the new Ukrainian government to admit that the war in Donbass is being waged against its own citizens, and the initiators of the ATO, who remain unpunished, must be brought to justice.
“The word “exchange” smacks of the slave system. In modern times, in the XNUMXst century, making an exchange, not between Ukrainians and foreigners, but between citizens of Ukraine, is even more shameful. But there is no other way. In order for people to find themselves at home, to break them out of their dungeons, such methods have to be used.
It is shameful to conduct military operations, and at the same time not to recognize that this is the work of Ukraine itself, and not, for the most part, external factors. That is, we could have resolved this issue ourselves, without the intervention of any foreign states, back in 2014. But something went wrong in the minds of some politicians, who today feel quite at ease, but should have long ago been brought to criminal responsibility for using armed forces against their own people,” Dudkin concluded.
